This print is inspired by Sambalpuri ikat which is another resist dyeing technique from Orissa, India, wherein the threads are carefully resist dyed before being woven into the fabric. Although the word ikat, and likely the dyeing technique as well are originally Malay-Indonesian in origin, this type of resist dyed fabric has been found in India, Central Asia, Africa, Japan and even in the Americas.
