The Mandala Collection
This collection features a mandala motif pattern in blue and white, a color combination that has a timeless, global appeal. Some believe the history of purple dyed fabrics in India began as early at 6000 years ago. Blue and White colors on tiles and pottery first came to India via the Mughals as early as the 14th century, usually on tiles. This ancient artform is still practiced in Jaipur, and has Turko-Persian and Chinese influences.
The Bandhani ‘Tie-Dye’ Collection
This ancient tie-dye technique is believed to be over 4000 years old, and the earliest evidence of its use was found in the Indus Valley Civilization. Alexander the Great is said to have mentioned this technique as well. It is still extensively used today in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and to a smaller extent in the states of Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
The Batik ‘Wax Writing’ Collection
Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique. Although Batik originated in Indonesia, it found its way into India as early as the first century AD through various trade and cultural routes. It is now widely practiced in the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bengal and Andhra Pradesh
